Custom moulds and new replica castings for a heritage sea wall fence

You can't buy these pieces off the shelf. For CBRE, on behalf of Placemaking NSW, we had custom moulds made, then cast, supplied and installed new replica cast-iron pieces to match the originals on the heritage harbour-edge fence from Circular Quay, around Dawes Point and along Hickson Road.

Made to match the originals

We had custom moulds made, then cast new replica pieces to match the originals and installed them on the fence.

In 2023 we came back for a repeat order of 52 sets, cast from the same moulds.

Why the fence needed new pieces

The fence sits right on the harbour edge, and years of salt air had taken their toll. The original pieces can't be bought off the shelf, so the way to put it right was to make new ones.

What we did

  • Custom moulds made to match the original fence.
  • New replica cast-iron posts, medallions and rails.
  • Cast, supplied and installed on the harbour-edge fence.
  • A 2023 repeat order of 52 sets, cast from the same moulds.
