Six rooms, one at a time, in a home that never closed
Laidre refurbished six resident rooms at Whiddon's Robert Young home while the aged care home kept running. We worked one room at a time, re-levelled the floors, and laid new Flotex carpet tiles, skirting and paint. The work was finished on 2 October 2026, and Whiddon has asked us back for Rooms 41 and 42.

Every room is someone's home
Robert Young is a working aged care home in Narrabri, in north-west NSW. Six residents' rooms needed new flooring, skirting and paint. Each resident had to move out of their room while we worked, so every day a room was out of action was a day someone was away from their own space.
What we did
- Removed the old flooring, prepared and re-levelled the floor underneath, and photographed the floor before and after preparation as part of our installation method.
- Laid new Flotex carpet tiles, with Oiled Oak vinyl in Room 28.
- New skirting and painting throughout.
- The flooring installer booked fire isolations with the Village Managers for each flooring day.
- Sent Whiddon a weekly report with site photos.
Back in her own room
The work was finished on 2 October 2026. When the floor in Room 28 was done, Whiddon's maintenance team moved the resident back in that same day. Whiddon has since asked us back for a full refurbishment of Room 41, starting 26 October, and Room 42.
